The Cider Mill & Press
Throughout the summer and fall, the sounds of the cascading waterfall and churning water wheel mix with the echos of children laughing.
The Fitz overshot water wheel is the heart and pulse of Eagle Mills, and delights visitors throughout the year. In 1928, this same water wheel generated power for two homes and a dance hall in nearby Butterfield Lake.
In Autumn, as the foilage of the surrounding panoramic hills begins to change, the setting reflects nothing less than a Rockwell painting.
The cider mill's giant belts and pulleys are engaged to route the "science of water power," transforming the energy of the turning wheel to the mechanical energy needed to run conveyor belts, elevators, and the Eagle Mills Cider Press.
Proprietor John Arneo will guide you step-by-step through the cider making process, and you'll see first hand how this 100 year old antique knuckle joint press squeezes 50 bushels of apples at a time into our delicious blend of fresh and pure apple cider.
