Water Wheel

The water wheel that powers the Cider Mill and Press at Eagle Mills was manufactured in Hanover, Water Wheel Pic Pennsylvania, by the Fitz Water Wheel Company in the mid-1920's. It is 6 ft. wide and 6 ft. in diameter and is an overshot wheel, with water entering at the top and exiting out the bottom. The weight of the water makes it turn and as long as the flow continues into the top of the wheel, it will run continuously.

Fabricated of steel, Fitz made thousands of water wheels like this one, from 5 to 40 ft. in diameter. In business from 1840 until 1966, the company was one of the biggest manufacturers of water wheels in the world.

With the crystal clear waters of the Kennyetto Creek flowing into our Mill Pond, a minute spent alongside the waterfall means stress relief for a week! Come and experience the magical cadence of our water wheel as it revolves, and take a step back in time to relive America Past!
